Itinerary
You’ll depart early in the morning from your accommodations in Marrakech to start your journey. You’ll slowly climb into the High Atlas Mountains and cross the famous Tichka Pass (2,260 m / 7,414 ft), the highest paved pass in North Africa. Shortly thereafter, you’ll leave the main road for a side road to the Telouet Kasbah. This famous kasbah belonged to the Lords of the Atlas, the Glaoui family, and now stands in ruins after the last Pasha, or leader, fled the country following the departure of the French. From there you will continue on and lunch at Ait Ben Haddou along a new road through Onilla Valley. This is the most famous Kasbah in Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, that we will visit after lunch. Later we continue as far as Ouarzazate, the Moroccan Hollywood, to spend the night in a riad there.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will have the opportunity to visit one the Cinema Studios or Kasbah Taourirt from the 17th Century, before driving back through the High Atlas Mountains via the Magoun Valley and the beautiful landscape dotted with Berber villages. Here you’ll see Berbers working the fields in the same manner as their ancestors. The second night will be spent in a Demnate hotel with pool.
You will have breakfast by the pool before restarting your journey through the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to observe two types of dinosaur footprints dating back to the lower Jurassic time period. Afterwards, you will drive through Demnate village, and onto the Ouzoud waterfalls, after a stroll around the waterfalls and lunch you will drive back to Marrakech. You will reach Marrakech before nightfall.
